new synergy project
Synergy Project will be a brand that create products which help and entertain people. Starting with my 25 Moments, and the documentation book, I have been creating projects that takes more then one part to function, projects that are based on synergy. I am interest in the end results more then the big idea. I feel like designing a lot of products that all communicate the same topic will make help me define synergy better.
Synergy Project is
-positive – helpful in some ways – entertaining – provide a way to have fun – humorous – multiple – combination of different products – 30 rock (tv show)- drag race (reality tv show)
it’s not
- serious – one – C.S.I Miami (tv show) – the biggest loser (reality tv show)
Objective:
To create new products. By using my products, people will realize synergy is everywhere. To have ownership of synergy projects. To be known as the Synergy Star.
I will create 5-10 products that are based on human interest. For example, human care about their look, so these products can be items that improve their appearance–physically or mentally. More importantly, all of the products will come with at least 2 items, and the line of products will be sell by conjoin figures.
please take a look at the language and the writing, please let me know what do you think, and any suggestion you have, i’d love to hear from you.

Joyce, I think the biggest problem is still the same, the language seems far too vague to me.
The last paragraph needs either more explanation or a simpler way to say it. From reading this, I really cannot gather a single detail that helps me to understand what the products might be.
I think for your sentence to be effective someone should be able to at the very least make up in their head what it could be, but right now I feel like there are too many different aspects of what the products are (at least in the description). Not only is it very hard to put all of those concepts together for the viewer, I think it is going to be extremely difficult for you to put these multiple concepts into one product, and then more products.
I really love the idea of your project and I am sure you will find a way to make it awesome.

But the products are pills/ face creams/ etc? I dont understand what type of products will embody synergy, because, as you said synergy IS all around us. As talked about last semester everything in the entire universe is the result of things working together, from ecosystems to a can of coke. It feels like you could take anything and try to sell it as a synergy product, but without your selling points it will seem like b.s…unless you find the product that truly does embody synergy.
As for the names, maybe the products need to be clear before the name? And maybe synergy is less in the foreground (I could be totally wrong). For arguments sake, if you were selling puppys, rather than calling it the “synergy puppy project”, you would call it “Puppys for everyone” and the reason that people should care is because puppys need people to take care of them, and they bring happiness to the people that do. Synergy.
That sound so ridiculous, but hopefully you understand the point i mean to make.

i agree with grant and chris completely.
the description is vague, but i think the fact that you are now thinking of these smaller “projects” more specifically (products; human interest; make life better/easier) is good.
but i’m just wondering…most products that we buy are to help us. aren’t most of the things we buy everyday human interest: food, clothes, books…
back to what chris said “It feels like you could take anything and try to sell it as a synergy product, but without your selling points it will seem like b.s.”
so…i guess i would be extremely specific with the product and how it embodies synergy. because most things we buy involve small pieces coming together to create a bigger product. food is ingredients coming together; clothes are dye and thread and machine and buttons coming together…
how will these things be different?

Hey Joyce–
Agreed, still very vague.
Creating products based on the idea of synergy is a fine hook, but you need to define their specific function. Will these products help in making decisions? Will these products help/demonstrate the idea of many parts contributing to a singular/whole outcome? It does not have to be complicated, it should be boiled down to one sentence.
When you say “For example, human care about their look, so these products can be items that improve their appearance–physically or mentally.”… I’m not exactly sure what the link is between vanity/appearances and synergy. So the beauty product line doesn’t quite make sense to me yet.
I think the example you had last week, with the Jenga game was more on par with the idea of synergy–something made of a bunch of pieces, and the position of each piece affects the structure as a whole. Makes total sense.
I think you ABSOLUTELY need set up some basic ground rules for these products, that will keep a consistency/link to hold the collection together.
What is the basic function of these products?
How will people interact with these products? Will anything be asked of them, i.e. will they be asked to contribute something?
What pre-existing products could lend themselves to this idea?
For ex, Chris has done a good job at using existing products as a starting point and then adapting them to fit his project (coins, wheels, etc). I think it would be good if you do the same for your idea. As said before, Jenga is a good example to start with.
Next step–can you post a few examples of the projects you have in mind. Also, not following why the TV shows are used as an example, was it the idea of fun over serious?

thank you guys, these comments are really helpful. i am still struggling on looking for what is the selling point of my project. i just want to create something that people would want to engage themselves.
lindsay, i put the tv show examples just to point out it’s not a serious project, it suppose to be entertaining and fun, even crazy.
